Shivani Rajpal - CEO & Head of Training

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

​

Shivani Rajpal is the Chief Executive Officer of Earth Academy and a recognised expert in sustainability and ESG reporting, with over 20 years of international experience in professional training and advisory services.

 

She has delivered hundreds of training programmes and consulting engagements worldwide, supporting organisations in strengthening their sustainability and non-financial reporting practices. Prior to joining Earth Academy, Shivani served as Director of Services and Training at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), where she played a key role in building global capacity for the implementation of the GRI Standards.

 

Shivani has worked extensively with Fortune 500 companies, stock exchanges, and government institutions, guiding them in the adoption and practical application of leading sustainability reporting frameworks. Her experience spans strategy, implementation, and assurance-readiness of ESG disclosures.

 

In addition to her role at Earth Academy, Shivani is a Partner and Senior Trainer at PGS Consults, the consulting arm of Presidio Graduate School (California), where she supports organisations on sustainability strategy and reporting. She also serves as a Board Member of the non-profit organisation Partners for Good.

Lorinda Niemeyer - Partner & Lead Trainer

Lorinda Niemeyer is a sustainability leader with over 25 years of experience spanning strategy, ESG, and climate-related transformation. Her career reflects a rare combination of regulatory insight, top-tier consulting expertise, and hands-on corporate leadership — all grounded in a belief that sustainability is a powerful driver of long-term value and business performance.

She spent nearly two decades at McKinsey & Company, where she served as both a consultant and a senior leader in sustainability strategy, communications, and reporting. Beyond consulting, Lorinda has worked as a regulator and has built new sustainability offerings and thought leadership for a boutique sustainability consultancy. She now leads sustainability for the North American subsidiary of a large European insurance group, translating strategy into real-world implementation.

Lorinda holds an MBA and an MA from Stanford University and is certified in Sustainability and Climate Risk by Global Association of Risk Professionals (SCR).

Asthildur Hjaltadottir-de la Fuente - Senior Trainer

Asthildur Hjaltadottir-de la Fuente is a senior sustainability and ESG reporting expert with extensive international experience in managing complex programmes and leading cross-border teams across multiple geographies.

 

She brings over 16 years of specialised experience in sustainability reporting gained at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the world’s leading organisation in the field. During her tenure at GRI, Asthildur held senior leadership roles, including serving as Chief Sustainability Officer, where she played a central role in advancing the global adoption and practical implementation of sustainability reporting standards.

 

Asthildur has worked with and trained senior professionals from Fortune 500 companies, stock exchanges, and government institutions around the world, supporting them in building robust sustainability reporting and governance practices. Her work spans technical capacity-building, strategic advisory, and executive-level training on non-financial reporting frameworks and ESG disclosure

Andrew Mitchell - Trainer

London, UK

For over a decade, Andrew has been a pioneer in developing innovative credit lines for banks and landscape bonds for capital markets, primarily in Latin America and SE Asia. He works with governments, companies and the financial sector to develop the scientific, political and business case for safeguarding natural capital that underpins water, food, energy, health and climate security, locally and globally.

 

In 2015 he received India’s Ashoka Trust Award for services to forest canopy science and for his successful efforts to include forests in the UN Climate regime. Since founding the think tank Global Canopy Programme at Oxford in 2001, he has focussed on the inclusion of forests in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, reducing the impact of global supply chains on natural capital and on designing innovative public-private finance instruments, such as green bonds, for climate smart agriculture.

 

Since 2012 his focus has been on catalysing a transformation within the financial sector towards greater understanding of its impacts and dependencies on natural capital and realising opportunities for green
growth.​

He has forty years experience in conservation. He is the Emeritus Rufford Fellow in Environmental Understanding at Oxford University and for seven years was a Research Fellow in its Zoology Department.

Stefaan van Hooydonk - Co Founder & Dean of the Academy

Antwerp, Belgium

Stefaan van Hooydonk is the co founder and Dean of Earth Academy. He is author of the bestselling book: The Workplace Curiosity Manifesto (2022) and Curiosity: The Secret Ingredient For Success (2025). An experienced global C-suite executive, Stefaan held executive roles as Chief Learning Officer in fortune 200 companies like Royal Philips, Cognizant, Saudi Aramco, Nokia and others. He consults global corporations and leadership teams towards building a stronger curiosity muscle. Stefaan researches the topic of workplace curiosity in companies. He believes that curious individuals need curious environments to thrive and that especially in times of turmoil individuals and companies need to embrace intentional curiosity. With the help of a number of diagnostics his team and he designed, he creates insights on what drives and what enables individuals and organisations to show up curiously. He is a regular speaker around the world on the power of curiosity to benefit professionals, leaders, teams, and organisations.
